Accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO, has appointed Lisa Oakes as a new tax partner, based in London.

In her new role, Oakes will advise businesses across the full range of real estate sub-sectors with a particular focus on the operational real estate sector, including retirement and residential sectors.

She joins from KPMG, and she has spent over 10 years advising funds and other institutions with real estate investments.

Additionally, Oakes also has experience working with family offices and private capital businesses, as well as supporting business restructuring projects for real estate clients.

Meanwhile, BDO promoted and appointed 70 individuals to partner across the firm last year.

Oakes said: “Having spent the last few years working with entrepreneurial and privately owned businesses within the real estate sector, I am excited to be joining a market-leading firm in this space.

“Businesses in the real estate sector are seeing major changes. The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated changes to the way real estate is used across all sectors. I look forward to supporting clients as they navigate these changes over the next few years.”

Paul Eagland, managing partner of BDO, added: “It is fantastic to be able to welcome Lisa to the firm today as we continue to invest in our people and the future of the business.

“Businesses are still facing much uncertainty, but our clients have remained resilient and require increasingly complex advice to help them succeed. Lisa’s appointment reflects these requirements and the growth of our highly skilled tax advisory team.”
