Tilney Smith and Williamson has bolstered its corporate communications team by hiring “experienced” financial journalist and editor Adrian Lowery from This Is Money.

He joins the group as a senior media relations manager and will focus on helping to continue to raise the profile of the group’s wealth management services, expertise and its principal brands Tilney, Smith and Williamson and online investment service Bestinvest.

The firm said that in his new role, Lowery will work closely with Jason Hollands – managing director, corporate affairs – and Mark Gee – newsroom and press office senior manager – who leads on PR for the professional services business.

Lowery joined This Is Money as a content editor and reporter in 2005 before becoming news editor in 2010 and deputy editor in 2015.

Hollands said: “We are delighted that Adrian is joining the team. He is a highly experienced journalist, with a deep knowledge of investments and the retail financial services industry.

“He’s joining the business at an exciting time in its development, having greatly expanded the range of services and expertise we offer clients through the merger of Tilney and Smith and Williamson, and with ambitious plans to grow Bestinvest, our digital business.”

Lowery added: “I’m tremendously pleased and excited to be joining Jason and Mark at Tilney Smith and Williamson. They are a highly respected team at an ambitious company with a great future. Having written about financial services for many years I’m really looking forward to getting inside the industry.”
