UNW names raft of promotions

Included in the promotions is that of Fern Rivett to audit and assurance partner at the group, bringing the total number of partners at the Newcastle-based company to 13

UNW, the chartered accountancy and business advisory firm, has announced a raft of promotions across the company.

Included in the promotions is that of Fern Rivett to audit and assurance partner at the group, bringing the total number of partners at the Newcastle-based company to 13.

Commencing her career with KPMG, Rivett joined UNW in 2012 before being promoted to senior manager at the group’s audit and assurance department in 2017.

Rivett said: “The audit department and firm as a whole has grown consistently since I joined nine years ago and I’m excited about the opportunities we have to expand our impressive client base and ensure we maintain the highest standards of client service.

“We have some fantastic people here that I’m fortunate to work with and, as well as recruiting people with ‘Big Four’ experience, we’re now very much focused on training our own talent.”

Alongside the partner addition, UNW also revealed the promotions of Peter Sym to senior audit manager and Laura Kendal to audit manager.

Hayley Deeming and Sarah Smart have been promoted to senior tax managers at the firm, while Gillian Smith and Cathy Howe will now act as tax managers.

Finally, Andrew Wimhurst, Mohammed Miah, and Jacalyn Rivett have been promoted to senior accounting services manager, corporate finance manager, and project manager respectively.

Andrew Wilson, managing partner at UNW, said that each promotion is “characterised by a commitment and an aspiration to being the best at what they do”.

He added: “We firmly believe in investing in our team’s development and recognising both individual and collective success.

“This is reflected in the commitment the firm has to continuing to hire, develop, and retain the best people, enabling us to go above and beyond in the provision of the best advice and service to our clients.”
