The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has elected Natalie Binstead as the organisation’s West of England president for 2021-22.
Chosen at the group’s AGM on 9 June, Binstead takes over the role from the outgoing Jon Brown, and will be succeeded in 2022 by Ololade Adesanya.
Binstead joined the institute as a student council representative in 2015, before becoming vice president and deputy president of the ICAEW West of England in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Outside of the organisation, Binstead established the accountancy firm BW business accountants and advisors in April 2021.
As leader of the West of England arm, Binstead said that she aims to shift away from the group’s current “Bristol-centric” approach to gain a “broader reach in the region”.
She added: “I would like to be remembered for promoting sustainability and ensuring that this is embedded in all the events that we are holding.
“Not just in terms of our environmental impact but thinking about how we can contribute to as many of the 17 UN sustainable development goals as possible.”
