Matherat is an “expert” on financial services regulatory matters and was a member of the High Level Forum on the Capital Markets Union at the European Commission.
In her new role, she will work as an external advisor, developing Mazars’ regulatory advisory practice and supporting regulatory issues, such as climate risk, financial crime and non-performing loans.
Mazars’ financial services sector focuses on helping organisations comply with regulation, manage risk, transform their business and “play a more sustainable role in the world”.
Hervé Hélias, CEO and chairman of Mazars Group, said: “Sylvie Matherat will bring a wealth of expertise and experience to this role and I am delighted she has joined us. At Mazars, we are constantly finding new ways to support our clients and I am confident Sylvie will help us do that with her cutting-edge knowledge and insight.
“She will be instrumental in strengthening our relationships with regulators and central banks, ensuring our clients understand regulatory requirements and how to navigate them going forwards.”
