Accountancy and business advisory firm, BDO LLP has strengthened its natural resources and energy team with the appointment of a new partner.

Pete Acloque joins the firm as an audit partner and will specialise in advising director level professionals within the natural resources and energy sector on a range of business matters, including building stakeholder trust and transparency.

The firm said he brings a “wealth of experience” to the firm, having spent over 20 years working with oil and gas, mining and renewable energy companies which includes time spent working as a geologist. He joins BDO from PwC.

Acloque said: “As the debate around audit reform continues, I am excited to be joining a firm that has a resolute focus on quality and is successfully demonstrating its role in providing greater choice and competition to the top end of the market.

“Even before I joined, I really identified with BDO’s unique culture where everyone is encouraged to be themselves. Despite the majority of staff continuing to work remotely, I am looking forward to getting to know and working with my new team, while supporting our clients in one of the most challenging periods businesses have ever faced.”

Paul Eagland, BDO managing partner, added: “Our natural resources and energy team is already leading within the market, and Pete’s appointment will add even further value to this high-achieving team.

“Despite the challenges the outbreak of COVID-19 has brought, our focus on quality remains. We are proud to be investing in the best talent and technology within our audit practice to maintain our high standards and help our clients succeed.”
