Lancashire-based Ainscough Crane Hire has announced the appointment of Ian Scapens as its CFO in a senior management shake-up.

Scapens joins Ainscough from machine manufacturer Renold, where he held the position of CFO. He has also held senior positions at Keepmoat Group and Speedy Hire, where he held the position of group financial controller, financial director of UK and Ireland and integration director.

He also worked as corporate finance assistant director at ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm Deloitte.

Ainscough also announced the appointment of Peter Gibbs as CEO and Dr Andrew Tyler CBE as chairman, with immediate effect.

Tyler previously held C-Suite positions at Algeco Group, Northrop Grumman (Europe), and the Ministry of Defence. Ainscough Cranes is majority owned by funds managed by GSO Capital Partners LP.

Also, Gibbs was previously COO at Ainscough and formerly at Brakes. He has held senior positions at Reynolds Catering Supplies, Gist and TGD Logistics.

Paulo Eapen, senior managing director and head of GSO Europe, said “We are delighted to appoint Andrew as chairman of Ainscough Crane Hire.

“Andrew brings a wealth of relevant experience in industries and support services, as well as deep market knowledge. His addition complements and adds to the strengths of the existing executive team, under the leadership of Peter Gibbs.”

He added: “We look forward to working together in building on Ainscough’s success as the UK’s leading crane hire company.”

Tyler said: “These appointments further strengthen Ainscough’s great executive team, now under Peter’s leadership.

“I am much looking forward to continuing to serve our customers and build on the reputation the company has established over many years as the UK’s only nationwide mobile crane operator, working in partnership with our customers.”
