FRP corporate finance has supported Essex-based True Staging’s acquisition of a majority stake in scenic and production specialists Box Productions.

Working from a manufacturing facility in Billericay, True Staging designs and builds events, exhibitions and luxury brand experiences for a range of leading global markets, working across various genres within the events and entertainment.

True regularly provides installation for red carpet film premiers in London, including blockbusters such as Wicked, Barbie, Wonka, Dune and James Bond. In 2023, the company was commissioned to create the first official touring Formula 1 exhibition, designing and constructing a 3,000 m² experience that celebrates the sport’s history. This exhibition is currently on tour in Europe and North America.

True Staging has now acquired a majority stake in Essex-based Box Productions, a scenic production build company that has produced activations for brands including Netflix, TikTok and Apple.

True Staging will benefit from Box Productions’ expertise in AV, lighting and sound, creating a solid foundation for both businesses to collaborate and grow together.

FRP Essex-based corporate finance team, led by partner Chris Adlam, acted as buy-side advisers for True Staging, advising on negotiations, deal structure and funding, as well as completing financial due diligence for the deal.

Adlam said: “This deal is a signal of strong confidence in the fast-growing specialist events sector. True Staging and Box Productions have each built enviable reputations, helping household name brands create experiences that delight and amaze. Bringing them together with their complementary skills and areas of expertise creates a very powerful offering.”

Chad Higgins, at True Staging, added: “Chris and the team at FRP Corporate Finance became an extension of our team, allowing us to create a deal structure that worked for both companies.  The team very quickly understood our business adding a bespoke level of representation.

“With Box on board, our expanded team is in a perfect position to enhance our digital approach to scenic, whilst continuing to deliver exciting projects in the UK and the rest of the world.”
