Representatives from Caba, the occupational charity for ICAEW members and their families, revealed it has met with new ICAEW CEO Alan Vallance to develop the two organisations’ partnership and enhance the support available to the ICAEW community.

Vallance met with senior figures from caba to discuss the continuation and further development of support services available to ICAEW members.

ICAEW and Caba have continued to work together to highlight Caba’s services to members, including the mental health support services, which have seen an increase in calls this year. Overall, almost 1,200 ICAEW members requested direct support from Caba this year, whilst over 28,000 people accessed tools, information and advice from its website.

On average, Caba provided direct support to two ICAEW members every single day in the first half of the year. It was also recently reported in a survey conducted by Baba during the pandemic that over three quarters of respondents said they believed that stress and poor mental health were a problem within the profession.

Cristian Holmes, CEO at Caba, said: “The increase in individuals reaching out for support, particularly mental health is a reminder of how our services are more important than ever. It’s also a positive indicator that accountants are increasingly aware of their wellbeing and more open to asking for support.

“Our growing partnership with ICAEW means we can continue to support the community and ensure they can manage whatever’s in front of them and thrive. We look forward to working closely with Alan as we strengthen our relationship with ICAEW and develop tools and resources to ensure the community has access to the help they need.”

Alan Vallance, CEO at ICAEW, added: “We are extremely grateful to caba for the wide range of services they provide for our members, and I was pleased to be able to visit their offices and meet their experienced and dedicated staff.

“We look forward to working with Caba to ensure that everyone in the profession can access the support they need. If you are an ACA student, an ICAEW member or member of staff, or even one of their close family dependents, please do contact Caba if you need advice or practical support.”
