Bishop Fleming has announced the launch of a new responsible business initiative, which will contribute 1% of its turnover for communities through volunteering and fundraising.

The new initiative aims to support local communities, foster employee engagement, and contribute to meaningful causes while furthering the firm’s ambition to “be the most rewarding accountancy firm in the UK” for its clients, people and communities.

Alongside the launch, Bishop Fleming has revealed its latest annual partnerships with six regional charities that will receive fundraising and volunteering support for the next 12 months.

The charities are St Richard’s Hospice Foundation in Worcester; Longfield Community Hospice in Cheltenham; Southmead Hospital Charity in Bristol and Bath; FORCE Cancer Charity in Exeter and Torquay; St. Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth; and Cornwall Hospice Care in Truro.

Bishop Fleming plans to raise £75k for these charities through joint fundraising activities over the next 12 months, as well as increase investment in its people’s volunteering time during the partnership period.

Fleur Lewis, partner and responsible business lead at Bishop Fleming, said: “As a responsible business, our people deliver a huge programme of community-based activities, whether it is giving blood, working with charities, or maintaining a position of responsibility such as Trusteeship within our community organisations.

“Combined with hundreds of hours of volunteering, fundraising events and activities, we collectively deliver community value running into hundreds of thousands of pounds each year.”

She added: “But we have a real determination to drive this better. So, our new 1% for Communities commitment will provide the ongoing measurement and framework to deliver even more value to the communities that sustain us.”

Ewan McClymont, head of responsible business at Bishop Fleming, said: “We are delighted to announce our six new charity partnerships who will play a key role in our 1% for Communities ambition.

“Collaborating with our local communities is an integral part of the firm’s Responsible Business commitment, whether it’s through volunteering, fundraising, or raising awareness of the work these charities undertake.”
