The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) has appointed Adam Rollason, tax advisory partner at PKF Smith Cooper, as chair after serving as deputy chair since 2019.
With 18 years of tax experience Rollason will lead the Birmingham branch of the CIOT for the next three years.
In his new role as chair, Rollason will be a leading local representative for the CIOT in Birmingham and promote the institute’s charitable values to the public.
He will also help to increase tax-related skills and knowledge among local branch members and members of the public in the region through the delivery of a technical CPD programme.
Rollason has acquired an “extensive” corporate and personal tax experience by working in a variety of roles at RSM and Grant Thornton.
Adam joined PKF Smith Cooper as head of tax for Birmingham in 2020, before being promoted to head of transactions tax advisory in 2021 and then tax advisory partner in 2022.
Rollason said: “I have enjoyed supporting the Chartered Institute of Taxation as deputy chair over the past three years and I am looking forward to the inevitable new challenges and opportunities that the role of chair will bring.
“It is a privilege to be taking the mantle from the outgoing chair Stephanie Churchill who has done an exceptional job leading the Birmingham branch and I hope I can make an even bigger impact during my time at the helm.”
