Kreston Global has announced the appointment of Jan Slagter as chair of its global indirect tax group to oversee the network’s VAT and real estate tax expertise across member firms.
Slagter, who is head of the VAT team at the Dutch firm Bentacera, succeeds in the leadership role for the Global Indirect Tax Group (GITG).
An experienced tax adviser of 11 years, he specialises in international VAT transactions and real estate tax law.
The GITG is a subgroup within Kreston’s wider tax service portfolio. Under Slagter’s leadership, the group intends to increase the sharing of technical and commercial indirect tax experience across the network’s international member firms.
Slagter holds a master’s degree in tax law from the University of Groningen and is a member of the Register Belastingadviseurs, a professional association for Dutch tax specialists.
Kreston Global currently organises its services into three primary lines: tax, audit, and advisory.
Slagter said: “As an experienced VAT advisor, I focus primarily on international transactions, where we offer services such as fiscal representation. As chair of the Global Indirect Tax Group I hope to maximize the benefits of the international Kreston network by connecting VAT professionals all over the world.
“I’m looking forward to working with all our friends and colleagues in the sector, and meeting as many as possible at our European VAT conference held in London as part of our annual world conference this June.”
Liza Robbins, chief executive at Kreston Global, added: “Jan has been a long-standing and active member of the group, and his appointment as chair reflects his commitment to collaboration across the network. I’m confident he will continue to raise the profile and impact of this important expert group.”
