GS Verde Group has advised on the sale of Denman and Sons, a family run independent builders merchant based in Caerphilly, to LBS Group, the largest independent builders’ merchants in South Wales.

Since its establishment in 1986, Denman and Sons has provided “valuable” service to its customers across Caerphilly, Blackwood, Newport and Cardiff with staff delivering their expertise in hardware, paints and glass.

The company offers a variety of services including paving, drainage, fencing, insulation, painting and decorating, and tiling.

Founded in 1931, LBS is the largest and leading independent builders’ merchants in South Wales.

With more than 35 branches, the group includes brands such as LBS Builders’ Merchants, LBS Kitchens and Bathrooms, LBS Renewables, Total Plumbing, and Talbot Timber. With the addition of Denman and Sons bringing the group will have a portfolio of up to 10 brands and over 500 expert staff.

The transaction will see LBS take over Denman’s site located in Pengam, retaining all staff.

Craig Denman, director at Denmon and Sons, said: “We are very pleased to take the next steps on our journey as part of LBS Group. We look forward to helping deliver the group’s future plans and joining the other brands in the group so that we can continue to deliver our excellent products and services to our customers.”

Rachel and Ben Davies, managing directors of LBS Group, added: “LBS is delighted to welcome Denman and Sons through this strategic acquisition. We are proud to be an independent Welsh business and are committed to our investment in the region. Denman’s Pengam branch is very well-connected, and we are looking forward to servicing the local community and working with the fantastic team there.”
