The corporate finance team at Henderson Loggie has advised entertainment and technology company Esk on a £2.6m funding round led by Maven Capital Partners.
The investment was provided by the Maven VCTs and the British Business Bank’s Investment Fund for Scotland. The firm will use the capital for growth.
Dundee-based Esk licenses intellectual property from brands including Netflix, Paramount and BAFTA, and transforms these properties into large-scale live entertainment formats and orchestral experiences.
The company has also developed a media control system for audio-visual playback. This technology supports the business’s global touring partnerships and its “film in concert” market operations.
Henderson Loggie said the deal highlights institutional interest in creative companies driven by intellectual property. This sector accounts for more than 5% of UK gross domestic product.
Corporate finance head at Henderson Loggie, Rod Mathers, said: “Esk is a standout example of the kind of IP-rich, globally scalable creative business that investors increasingly want to back.
“The team has built a compelling international proposition, underpinned by strong partnerships, proprietary technology and a clear strategy for long-term value creation.”
CEO of Esk, Sam Weatherstone, added: “This investment from Maven and the British Business Bank is a massive vote of confidence in the company and our approach.
“We started Esk with a deep appreciation of live performance and immersive experiences, and a recognition that audiences have a huge appetite for in person, communal ways to enjoy the stories.”
