Audit, tax, advisory and consulting firm Crowe has appointed Roger Walker as its first chief operating officer, to spearhead operational efficiency and drive transformation.

The digital transformation veteran was, until recently, head of Technology Transformation at the Bank of England. He has also held strategic transformation roles such as COO and bid director for the recent National Lottery bid, Transformation Programme director at NatWest Group (RBS) and COO at UBS Investment Bank.

Crowe said Walker is a “dynamic” technology and operations leader with a proven track record in driving strategic transformation and will take on responsibility for building value and enhancing operational efficiency, leading Crowe UK’s operations board.

In his COO and transformation-focused roles, he has led business turnarounds, restructures, and the design and delivery of new strategies. In addition to his corporate experience, he has served as a cybersecurity advisor to the UK government and is a former British Army officer, having retired at the rank of Major after 11 years of distinguished military service.

Walker previously worked at Crowe from 2016 to 2017 as a Global Risk Consultant.

Walker said: “I am incredibly excited to join Crowe at such a pivotal moment in its growth and transformation journey. This is a firm with an ambitious vision – to drive innovation, enhance operational excellence, and deliver outstanding outcomes for both our clients and our people. Crowe’s commitment to sustainable growth, organisational effectiveness and technological enablement presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of the business in a rapidly evolving market.

“I look forward to working alongside an exceptional leadership team to unlock new value and accelerate efficiency, to position Crowe as a firm that sets new standards for operational excellence in our industry.”

Nigel Bostock, chief executive at Crowe, added: “I am delighted to welcome Roger to Crowe, as the firm pursues continued and sustainable growth in 2025 and beyond. The establishment and appointment of Crowe UK’s first chief operating officer is a statement of intent for our continued progression as a firm and a key part of shaping our future strategy. Roger’s expertise and experience as a COO will support the delivery of our vision for sustainable, innovative growth as a business, centred on the provision of successful outcomes for our clients and people.

“I look forward to working alongside Roger – he is ideally positioned to lead our operations board and deliver Crowe’s next stage of transformation and growth.”
