The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has launched an investigation into KPMG’s audit of Entain’s 2022 accounts. Entain, the parent company of Coral and Ladbrokes, has been audited by KPMG since 2018. The probe follows a £615m settlement over a bribery investigation into a Turkish subsidiary. This development is a blow to KPMG, which has worked to improve its audit standards after being fined £21m for its involvement in Carillion’s collapse. Last year, Entain appointed a new CEO after Jette Nygaard-Andersen stepped down following the resolution of the bribery investigation into the Turkish business.
