MHA, an accounting and advisory firm, reported a 27% increase in revenues to £180m for the year ending 31 March 2024. This growth was driven by significant double-digit increases across nearly all its offices and service lines, including a 49% rise in audit and assurance and a 20% rise in tax services. The firm’s key sectors, including financial services and pharma, saw substantial growth. MHA expanded by opening new offices in Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, increasing its headcount to 1,820 across 24 offices. MHA’s recent mergers and strategic growth efforts have positioned it for continued success in 2025.

PwC has appointed Daniel Chan as its new charities leader for PwC UK, succeeding Aidan Sutton. Chan, who has been with PwC for nearly 13 years and recently promoted to partner, is experienced in auditing large charities and holds significant roles in various charity committees. He also serves as a trustee and treasurer for UK Youth and governor at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Chan aims to address the challenges faced by the charity sector and create meaningful impacts. PwC’s Rachel Taylor praised Chan’s extensive experience and passion, highlighting his suitability for this pivotal role.

Metalwork manufacturer Braime Group PLC has appointed Azets as its new auditor for the year ending 31 December 2024, replacing Kirk Newsholme, who had served since 2009. Azets was selected following a tender process, and its re-appointment for 2025 will be subject to shareholder approval at the next Annual General Meeting. Kirk Newsholme confirmed no issues required member or creditor attention upon stepping down. Braime Group’s chairman, Nicholas Braime, expressed gratitude for Kirk Newsholme’s long-standing service and professionalism and looks forward to a productive relationship with Azets as the company enters its next growth phase.

Crowe has appointed John Manis as a new partner in its Workforce Advisory team. Manis brings over 15 years of experience, specialising in tax and executive incentivisation, particularly within investment funds. His expertise includes advising on employee share schemes, ownership trusts, and M&A management teams. Manis is also active in legislative discussions affecting employment income taxation. Crowe’s CEO, Nigel Bostock, and Workforce Advisory partner, Dinesh Jangra, welcomed Manis, emphasising his role in enhancing the firm’s advisory capabilities. Manis expressed enthusiasm for contributing to Crowe’s growth and building on the team’s successful track record.
