Deloitte appoints new partner to forensic practice

Richard Williams takes on the role after thirteen years working for the firm in China, as a partner having led the global discovery and data management group for the last seven years

Deloitte has announced that Richard Williams has joined the UK team as a partner in its forensic practice.

Williams takes on the role after thirteen years working for the firm in China as a partner, having led the global discovery and data management group for the last seven years.

He brings over 20 years’ experience as a technology focused investigator and discovery leader with specialist knowledge of local data security, privacy and cyber security regulation for the Asia Pacific region.

Williams said: “Working in China was a life defining opportunity that has helped me better understand how to meet clients’ needs, particularly when operating across multiple jurisdictions.

“Coming to London provides a world class platform to apply my learnings and make an impact with our clients. I look forward to working within the fraud, data and disputes team and bring my experience operating the Asia Pacific region to clients here.”

Simon Cuerden, who leads Deloitte’s fraud, data and disputes team, added: “Richard brings a depth of insight into the Asia Pacific market which we are pleased to incorporate into our offering to clients investing in that region.

“Working across such a dynamic landscape gives him a unique perspective on business operations; from compliance and legal challenges to supply chain and vendor sourcing due diligence. This experience will be invaluable to our forensic team, in particular as we continue to help clients tackle the threat of economic crime.”
