Armstrong Watson launches annual recruitment programmes

Joining the group’s accounting teams based in Cumbria and Yorkshire, the recruits will gain industry experience alongside working towards their qualifications

Armstrong Watson, the business advisory and accountancy firm, has announced that it is looking to make 11 new hires through its AAT/ATT apprenticeship programmes.

Joining the group’s accounting teams based in Cumbria and Yorkshire, the recruits will gain industry experience alongside working towards their qualifications.

The AAT qualification, which focuses on accounts preparation, VAT bookkeeping, and accounts reporting, will see 10 trainees selected.

While one ATT trainee, who will focus on tax computations, will also join Armstrong Watson via the programme.

David Ramsay, talent acquisition partner at the company, said: “At a time when it would be very easy to slow down recruitment of roles at this level, Armstrong Watson is continuing to recruit.

“Despite a challenging 12 months for all sectors, it is vital that we continue to invest in the next generation of accountants and advisers to enable us to support our clients into the future.”

He added that the group has a “long history of growing” its own talent, providing them with the opportunity to “become future business leaders” and work at the “cutting edge of legislative and technical changes in accounting”.

Both three-year courses will provide “invaluable skills and experience”, while also offering the opportunity to become a chartered accountant through the ACA qualification.
