Wasley Chapman appoints first female partner

Emma Henderson will manage the group’s Yorkshire portfolio from its new Scarborough offices

Yorkshire accountancy firm Wasley Chapman and Co has appointed Emma Henderson as the first female partner in its 102-year history.

A chartered accountant and business advisor, Henderson has also recently led the group’s move to a larger office space in Scarborough.

While managing the group’s Yorkshire portfolio, Henderson will now be tasked with the firm’s marketing initiatives, including its rebranding and social media.

Henderson acknowledged the “incredible honour” of becoming the firm’s first female partner, having set her sights on “achieving this goal” when she joined the group in 2009.

She said: “There’s been a lot of hard work on the way, but I’m thrilled to have finally made a little piece of history.

“I’m very focused on building great relationships with my clients and emphasising that we are part of their team, the same team. Whilst remaining professional, I feel it is important to be approachable and utterly reliable,”

Henderson added that she was “proud” of enabling the company’s move into its new Yorkshire base, and “even prouder” when subsequently asked to join the firm’s partners.

Neil Dull, senior partner at Wasley Chapman, said: “I love Emma’s drive and ambition, she’s certainly not afraid of hard work, something she proved whole heartedly to me with project managing the Scarborough office move.

“She has great vision and flair for visual impact, we now have a great office in arguably the best office location in the town.”
