Shepherd and Wedderburn expands private client services

The deal will extend the firm’s personal tax planning operations

Shepherd and Wedderburn, a law firm that also specialises in private client and wealth management services, has acquired Dentons’ Scottish private client team.

The deal will expand Shepherd and Wedderburn’s personal tax planning, asset protection, executries, and succession planning support services.

Led by partners Eleanor Kerr and Alexis Graham, Dentons’ team of 20 will join the Shepherd and Wedderburn private client practice, taking it to a total of 46 staff members.

Andrew Blain, managing partner at Shepherd and Wedderburn, said: “We have been looking at opportunities to invest in and grow our private client practice for some time and are delighted to be acquiring Dentons’ private client practice in Scotland.

“Their clients, who value their expertise, technical skills and their practical, accessible approach, will also benefit from the support of our other specialists with relevant expertise in areas such as rural property, family businesses, and contentious wills and trusts.”

With 30 years private practice, Kerr specialises in tax, estate planning, and succession law, combining with Graham to bring a combined 45 years of industry experience to their new roles.

Kerr said: “The combination of what are two well established, heavyweight private client practices is a game-changer in the provision of private client services in Scotland, presenting new and exciting opportunities for our clients and for us.”
