A&M bolsters team with senior hire

Alvarez and Marsal has announced the appointment of Devean George as managing director at its global transaction team in London

Prior to his appointment, George was a director in the transaction services department at PwC UK. He worked for the ‘Big Four’ firm for almost 15 years, also working as a member of its technology, media and telecommunications team.

Having started at PwC in 1993, George later went on to work at KPMG and Moore Stephens, working on over 150 transactions in Europe, the US, India and the Middle East throughout his career.

Alvarez and Marsal said that his appointment would “enhance its integrated client proposition, and further supplement our already deep expertise in the software and technology sector”.

His new role will see George deliver practical due diligence solutions for private equity funds and corporate clients, using his previous experience in advising on transactions using tech-enabled data analytics and intelligence.

George said: “I’m looking forward to developing a data-led approach to financial due diligence and working with colleagues to offer clients our full suite of advisory services.

“I am joining at a critical time for technology businesses. While clearly coronavirus will continue to impact on deal flow, deals in the software and technology sector are proving resilient and we expect to see a return to growth in the medium-term.”

He added: “Software and Technology is an integral part of business operations across the world, so will remain in-demand and retain the attention of investors.”

David Evans, managing director and European Practice Leader with A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Devean to our team, which has seen tremendous growth in recent months and years.

“He brings deep sector knowledge and expertise in deploying data analytics to supplement traditional due diligence which will prove invaluable to our clients.”
